(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On November 1, 2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Trafalgar Road at Side Road 5 in the Town of Erin.
At that time and location officers investigated the driver of a 2015 Nissan that entered the program. Police spoke with the driver and determined he had consumed alcohol and observed that he had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Kent DE BRUYN age 34 from Clifford has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Drive Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 25, 2014 to answer to the charges.
