Over the week of October 26-31, Guelph Police High School Resource Officers (HSRO’s) conducted lock it or lose it safety checks to parked vehicles at area High Schools. In total, they checked 730 cars. Forty two of those were found to have been left parked in an unsafe manner. The main safety issues were doors unlocked and valuables left in plain view. All vehicles had notices of success or concerns left with them to educate the owners in a proactive attempt to curb this type of crime.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle.
