(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On November 3, 2014, Acting Inspector Wayne Thompson became the commander of South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment, an assignment that’s expected to last for 3 months. Acting Inspector Thompson brings a wealth of experience to the position starting his policing career in 1987 with the Metro Toronto Police and, more recently, the past 4 years as commander of the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment.
As interim commander, he doesn’t anticipate too many changes, but stresses that community based policing is a priority for him. He wants to see officers continuing to connect with the community through foot patrol and continue to engage students by working with the schools.
“I’m looking forward to working with the residents of the South Bruce detachment area. A fine group of officers are assigned here and I’m pleased to see this detachment was awarded a 92.6% community satisfaction rating this past summer.
