(HURON EAST, ON) – A 19 year old driver from North Huron is facing an Over 80 charge following a single motor vehicle collision yesterday (09Nov) afternoon. Just after 4:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County EMS responded to a single vehicle collision on Jamestown Road between Adams Line and Mt. Pleasant Line. A Pontiac Grand-Am was found on its roof in the north ditch by a passerby.
Further police investigation revealed the driver was travelling westbound on Jamestown Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The Grand-Am left the roadway and collided with a tree before it came to rest on its roof in the north ditch. The driver sustained minor injuries from the collision and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Upon speaking with the driver police determined he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was arrested and transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 19 year old Joshua RAYNARD from North Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on December 11, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
