(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday December 13, 2011 at approximately 5 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a car/ transport truck collision on Hwy. 7/8 west of Road 102 (west of the railway overpass).
Investigation revealed that a west bound Ford Crown Victoria crossed the centre line and sideswiped an eastbound tractor trailer. The impact caused the Ford to spill debris all over the roadway and bounced it onto the north shoulder where it came to a stop. The car caught fire but the driver was able to safely exit his vehicle. The Township of Perth East Fire Department (Shakespeare station) attended and extinguished the fire. The driver of the car was transported by Perth County Ambulance to Stratford General Hospital with minor injuries. The truck sustained extensive damage but the car was destroyed. Both lanes of the highway were closed between Road 102 and Road104 until 6 p.m. to allow for the safe removal of vehicles and debris. The twenty year old male driver of the car, a Township of Perth East resident, has been charged with “fail to share half roadway – meeting vehicleâ€Â.
