(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron OPP officers have identified five youth that have been actively involved in stealing items from unlocked vehicles in Exeter. Since late December of 2011 Huron OPP officers have investigated in excess of 15 thefts from unlocked vehicles. The stolen items have included purses, cell phones, sunglasses, laptop computers, and change. The youth involved are between 13 to 16 years in age. All of the youth have been diverted to the extrajudicial youth diversion program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Huron OPP officers would like to remind owners to “Lock it or Lose itâ€Â. Do not leave your valuables in your vehicle. Remove your valuables and lock your car. Criminals will look for the easy target; if your vehicle is unlocked your chances of being victimized have certainly increased. Don’t become a victim, lock your vehicle and remove your valuables.
