(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On Thursday October 11, 2012 County of Wellington OPP officers received a call a regarding a theft of a large quantity of merchandise from the Canadian Tire Store located on Tower Street in the Town of Fergus.
Investigation revealed that on October 5, 2012 between the hours of 6:50pm and 8:45pm a male suspect was observed on store security cameras collecting items throughout the store and then proceeded to an outdoor garden centre and placed the items near the fence. The suspect then exited the store, entered his vehicle and drove around to the garden centre area. He retrieved the items through the fence and placed them in his vehicle.
The suspect was identified and numerous attempts were made by police to resolve the matter with negative results and a warrant was sought for the male.
Richard Keagan aged 40 of Fergus has been charged with Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on December 18, 2012 to answer to the charge.
