On November 28, 2012 at 4:30pm, a Honda Accord driven by a 28 year old Guelph female was travelling southbound on Vanier Drive. Concurrently, a Chevrolet Cruze driven by a 24 year old Guelph male was travelling westbound on College Avenue W. The Honda stopped at the stop sign at College Avenue and then entered the intersection directly into the path of the Chevrolet. The vehicles impacted at an angle, causing significant damage to both. The driver of the Honda was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The deployment of the Honda’s side curtain airbags, in conjunction with seatbelt use, is believed to have prevented more serious injury.
The driver of the Honda was charged with Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway, contrary to section 136(1) (b) of the HTA.
