(BRANT TWP, ON) – On December 9, 2012 at 5:01 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of Bruce County Road 4 and Bruce County Road 19 in Brant Township. Officers arrived to find that a Red Volkswagen Jetta had left the roadway and crashed in the ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol and arrested at the scene.
He was taken to the Walkerton hospital for assessment of minor injuries where he ran off on foot. A search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the West Region OPP Canine Unit and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team. The male was located and apprehended along West River Road in Walkerton.
38 year old Jamie HUTTON of West Grey has been charged with Impaired operation, Fail to provide breath sample and Escape lawful custody. He has been held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for December 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
