(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday April 19, 2013, shortly after 7 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers were dispatched to a truck fire on Perth Road 121 at Perth Road 119 west of Topping.
Upon police arrival the Township of Perth East Fire Department (Milverton , and Sebringville stations) were on the scene of a truck fire. The older model flatbed truck carrying large square bales of straw had its load catch on fire during transport. The truck driver, upon becoming aware of the fire pulled over and stopped on Perth Road 121 just north of the Perth Road 119 intersection.
The Perth County OPP closed all roads leading to the fire scene as fire fighters removed bales from the truck spreading them out on the roadway allowing them to safely extinguish the fire. The truck as well as the load of straw was destroyed by the fire. No injuries were sustained by the male driver of the truck, a 24 year old Township of Perth East resident.
At 11:45 a.m., when cleanup of the scene was complete, police reopened all roads in the area.
