(HURON EAST, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) crime unit is currently investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed the Seaforth Foodland located at 95 Main Street South. The fire started just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Investigators from the Huron County OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are in the process of determining the cause of the fire however it is believed to be suspicious in nature.
Investigators believe the fire started at the rear loading dock of the building and quickly spread destroying the entire building. The initial estimate of loss sustained is believed to be around $2 million.
