(ST.MARYS, ON) On Wednesday April 21 at approximately 2 p.m. an Emily St. resident was showering when the family dog was heard barking. The home owner immediately checked the residence and discovered that someone had entered the house.
Perth County OPP officers in St.Marys were dispatched. They searched the neighbourhood and the home owner’s property with negative results.
Investigation confirmed that someone had entered the home by way of the open garage door. This allowed entry into the house by the unlocked mud room door. When the dog started barking the culprit appears to have been startled and quickly left the residence empty handed.
The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate this entry. They are however requesting anyone who may have seen a suspicious individual on Emily St. yesterday afternoon to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Residents are reminded to close and lock garages so as not to allow easy entry into their homes.
If suspicious vehicles or persons are observed in your neighbourhood, obtain descriptions, write down licence plate numbers and immediately call the police.
