(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Monday May 13, 2013, shortly after 11 p.m., a St. David Street resident in Mitchell contacted the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and reported seeing someone steal a bicycle from his backyard.
Officers arrived on the scene within minutes of the call and obtained a description of the suspect. They checked residences in the area where the culprit was last observed and located the suspect and the bike.
The male, a sixteen year old West Perth resident has been charged with theft under $5.000, possession of property obtained by crime, under $5.000, and fail to comply with probation order. The youth will be appearing in Stratford Youth Bail Court on Tuesday May 14, 2013.
The public is reminded to secure their homes, vehicles, sheds and outbuildings in attempts to discourage these simple crimes of opportunity.
