Nuno Santos, Gary Roulston – Dangerous Driving – Flight From Police

(TOWSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Saturday April 24th shortly before 3 p.m. an OPP officer on patrol observed two north bound vehicles driving beside each other on Hwy. 7 at Perth Line 20. The two vehicles were forcing oncoming vehicles onto the shoulder of the Hwy. and were weaving in and out of traffic to avoid collisions.

The officer activated the emergency lighting on the cruiser, at which time both vehicles drove into a private laneway in an attempt to evade the officer. One of the vehicles was located behind a barn at the end of the private laneway while the other vehicle was observed driving through a field towards Perth Line 20.

The driver of the stopped vehicle was arrested and the odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath. He failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment for further breath tests. At the Detachment he refused to provide breath samples.

Shortly after leaving the scene the second vehicle was located by a Middlesex OPP officer north of London. The male driver was arrested and brought to the Perth County OPP Detachment.

Nuno Santos (33) of London was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. He was held in custody until a bail hearing is held on Monday April 26, 2010 in Stratford court.
