Horse Drawn Vehicle Crash Update: Children in Critical But Stable Condition

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLIDES WITH HORSE DRAWN VEHICLE – 10 PEOPLE INJURED

(MINTO TWP, ON) On Thursday June 6, 2013 at approximately 12:15am officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a collision involving a horse drawn vehicle and a motor vehicle.

A 2012 Volkswagon GTI was travelling north bound on Highway 9, south of Clifford when it collided with a horse drawn vehicle that was also travelling north bound.

The driver of the motor vehicle, Adam Leggett aged 29 from Stoney Creek was not injured.

The operator of the horse drawn vehicle, Mark Streicher aged 45 was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. All passengers have been released from hospitals with the exception of the 2 children, ages 4 and 6 that were airlifted. They are in critical but stable condition at this time.

The Wellington County OPP with the assistance of the West Region Technical Collision Investigation Unit are still investigating this collision.

The horse was uninjured.
