(Central Huron, ON) On May 6, 2010 Huron OPP officers were patrolling the town of Clinton in response to reports of youth attempting to enter vehicles. At approximately 12:30 am a vehicle was observed that contained numerous occupants. The vehicle was stopped and while speaking to the driver, there was a very strong odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the car. The driver was spoken to outside the car and the officer was able to confirm alcohol on the drivers’ breath. The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath and the driver complied. He provided a sample of his breath but failed the test. He was arrested for Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. While the driver was searched, the officer located a quantity of cannabis marihuana in his pocket as well. The driver was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two more samples of his breath and they were found to be above the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, Michael Gerard FERNEYHOUGH (28) of Kitchener was charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on July 5, 2010. LP10116062
