(Huron East, ON) On May 14, 2010 at approximately 9:00 pm a Huron OPP officer was patrolling in Seaforth when a grey Mustang, eastbound on Goderich Street west, was brought to his attention by a passing motorist. The officer pulled into a short line of traffic and then watched as the Mustang driver cut off another vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop and upon speaking to the driver, detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was read the demand to provide a roadside sample of his breath. He complied and failed his test. He was then arrested for Drive Over 80 Milligrams and was taken to the Exeter OPP Detachment to meet with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and provide two more samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of driving.
As a result, Joseph UNIAC (69) of West Perth has been charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charge at the Ontario Court of Justice Goderich on July 12, 2010. In addition, his drivers’ licence was suspended for 90 days.
