Theft From Cars

To date this year, Guelph has had a reported 281 theft from cars. That is 35-40 reports per month. Last year, Guelph police received 644 or just over 50 per month and in 2011 we received 561 or about 47 per month. The community plays a key role in policing. We have mentioned that this crime is extremely avoidable by simply locking your doors and keeping valuables from plain view. The fact is that the number of reports received is far fewer than the amount of thefts from cars that actually occurr as many people do not report this crime. Police recently located three GPS units, all had been stolen from cars but none of them had been reported. Police rely on the community to report these incidents and we have made it easier to report now with our online reporting system – coplogic, found on the Guelph Police Service web site.

If you are victim of a theft from car, report it. If you see suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, report it.
