(BLUEWATER, ON) – A disqualified driver tried to pull a fast one on police last week after her vehicle was stopped on Bluewater Veterans Highway near Blue Bluff Lane. At approximately 5:10 p.m. on August 20, 2013 officers from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit were towing the OPP police vessel to the Huron Detachment when a blue Volkswagen Passat passed them at a high rate of speed. Officers stopped the speeding vehicle and immediately noticed the passenger and driver switching seats. Officers questioned the female driver that was now sitting in the passenger seat as to why she had switched seats. Officers determined she was a disqualified driver and in addition was failing to comply with a condition of her probation order.
As a result, Chantal LAUDA, 22, from Walkerton has been charged with Drive while Disqualified and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. She has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 9, 2013. The motor vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
