(POINT EDWARD, ON) On August 29, 2013 at around 5:30 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to an assault complaint at an Alfred Street residence. When police arrived they were confronted by a male and a female who were both intoxicated.
While officers were arresting the female, she kicked them. Eighteen year old Shelby ROGERS from Sarnia has been charged with two counts of assault police and being intoxicated in a public place. She will appear in a Sarnia court on October 28, 2013 to answer to the charges.
The intoxicated male, a 22 year old from Sarnia, was injured while being arrested. He was transported to Bluewater Health by Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to be treated for non- life threatening injuries
While dealing with these individuals, the officers were standing by the police vehicle that was parked on the roadway. A vehicle travelling south on Alfred Street struck both of the officers. The officers sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from Bluewater Health. The driver of that vehicle, a 79 year old Sarnia male, was not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
