Compliance Notice Program

The London Police Compliance Notice Program will commence on September 1, 2013. As a result, this date will also mark the end of the current process involving the issuance of time to produce Provincial Offence Notices.

The new program will utilize a London Police Compliance Notice and will have an associated administration fee of $20

The original time to produce Provincial Offence Notice program was developed to provide an enforcement option for officers, other than charging, that ensured compliance with the associated statutes and regulations and facilitated the education of motor vehicle owners/operators with respect to an observed offence(s).

Previously, if the officer believed it was appropriate to exercise their discretion, the involved driver/operator was afforded a 48 hour time frame to rectify the violation at hand, ie. fail to display two licence plates, fail to produce insurance card, etc. If the violator failed to comply with the inspection within the 48 hours, the related Provincial Offence Notice was issued.

With the new Compliance Program, if the officer exercises their discretion and issues the Compliance Notice, the driver/operator will now be afforded 72 hours to rectify the issue at hand. If the driver/operator fails to comply, they may be issued a Provincial Offence Notice or summonsed for the related offence.

The adoption of this new program affords the members of The London Police Service the continued ability to facilitate a community service program to educate drivers, while recovering the associated costs from those who choose to participate in this program.
