(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday July 29, 2010 Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a driving complaint involving two vehicles passing in an unsafe manner on Perth Road 86 east of Listowel. Officers located the two vehicles stopped on the side of Perth Road 86 west of Listowel.
The drivers of both vehicles were spoken to and during the verbal exchange the officer obtained sufficient grounds for a roadside breath test on one of the drivers. The driver failed this test. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment. Breath tests at the Detachment resulted in readings of over .80 mgs. on the Intoxilyzer.
Aven Leach (28) of Owen Sound was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle while having in excess of eighty milligrams of blood alcohol in one hundred millilitres of blood. In addition he was charged with obstructing a Peace Officer, failing to comply with an Undertaking and with driving while being disqualified. He is to appear in criminal court at the Atwood Community Centre on September 22nd 2010 to answer to these charges. His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
