TRANSPORT TRUCK AND CAR COLLIDE SENDING ONE TO HOSPITAL

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On Thursday September 5, 2013 at approximately 4:55pm the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious collision involving a car and a transport truck on County Road 7 just north of the Side Road 5 in the Township of Centre Wellington (formerly Nichol Twp).

OPP officers attended along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue.

Investigation revealed that a 1990 Mack tractor trailer travelling north bound collided with a 2003 Ford Focus that entered the roadway from a private driveway. The female driver of the car was extricated from the vehicle and transported by land ambulance to Groves Memorial Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the transport truck was not injured.

The Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) assisted by West Region OPP Reconstructionists continue to investigate the collision.

County Road 7 remains closed between County Road 18 and County Road 17 while the investigation is ongoing.
