(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Sunday August 15, 2010 around the noon hour, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a collision between a car and a horse and buggy at the intersection of Perth Line 86 and Perth Road 131.
Investigation revealed that the horse and buggy after having stopped proceeded south bound through the intersection on Perth Road 131 where it was struck by an eastbound car on Perth Line 86. The car struck the front of the buggy and the rear of the horse, separating the two. The impact resulted in the ejection of the buggy driver who was subsequently transported to the Listowel Memorial Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The two other buggy passengers were checked out by ambulance personnel, they did not require medical treatment. The three occupants of the car were uninjured. The horse suffered minor injuries.
The buggy driver from the Township of Perth East was charged with “failing to yield to traffic on a through highwayâ€.
