The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a shoplifting incident in Chatham yesterday.
Just before 6:00 p.m. officers responded to a business on St. Clair Street as security had a man in custody for shoplifting $95 worth of merchandise. Through investigation, officers arrested the man and upon searching him, found that he was also in possession of a knife. Officers further learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to possess any weapons.
A 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
