Driver Of Stolen Vehicle Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday September 10, 2013 shortly after 1 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol observed a speeding minivan on Line 81 at Perth road 172. The officers proceeded to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle accelerated away from the police cruiser. The minivan driver attempted to evade police and entered into a gravel pit where the driver fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued resulting in the driver being arrested by police.

Further checks determined that the minivan had been stolen from a residence in Ethel while the owner was asleep. The minivan was returned undamaged to the owner.

The driver a 23 year old female from Huron East has been charged with “flight from police”, “possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000” and “drive motor vehicle – no licence”. She remains in custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Wednesday September 11, 2013 to answer to the charges.
