(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Saturday August 28, 2010, a Western Region OPP Traffic and Marine officer and a Perth County OPP officer patrolled Wildwood Lake.
This patrol was one of the many OPP patrols on the lake this summer. These patrols are in addition to the regular conservation officer’s patrols of the lake.
This Saturdays patrol allowed the OPP officers to check most of the boats on the lake. The results of these checks resulted in three charges being laid and seven warnings being issued to boat operators. All charges and warnings are under the Canadian Small Vessel Regulations.
The Perth County OPP and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority staff at Wildwood have worked hard this summer to educate the boating public on water safety as it pertains to powerboats and canoes. They want to remind boaters to always wear their lifejacket, have the mandatory safety equipment and not to over load their boats.
Patrols of Wildwood Lake will continue until late September.
