(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to a weekend swarming.
On September 14, 2013, at approximately 1:35 am, a lone male victim, age 27, was travelling aboard an OC Transpo bus when he encountered two suspects. Following a verbal exchange on the bus, the two suspects followed the victim off the bus at the Riverside Transit Station. At that point, the victim was assaulted and the suspects walked away. The victim encountered the suspects again on the second level of the platform at which point he was assaulted a second time and had various items taken from him. The two suspects were arrested at the scene by Ottawa Police and OC Transpo Security officers. During the course of arrest, one OC Transpo Security officer was spat upon by one of the suspects. The same suspect later damaged an Ottawa Police vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries.
The Robbery Unit has charged two suspects. Andy RANDELL, age 24 of Navan, was charged with a single count of robbery. He was released from custody and appears in court on October 3, 2013. Bryan HEDDERSON, age 18 of Ottawa, was charged with robbery, assaulting a peace officer, and mischief under $5000 and was held for court on September 15, 2013. He appears again on September 16, 2013.
