Last night at approximately 1:00 am Police located the accused a 23 year old Chatham man walking on Wyandott Street. Police stopped to talk with him at which time he appeared nervous and fidgety. He couldn’t explain where he was coming from only that he was going home.
While speaking to the accused, he started to run away from Police heading between houses on the north side of Chippewa. Officers eventually caught him and arrested him after a short foot chase in the Memorial Arena area.
PC Bertok and his K-9 partner attended to assist. They arrived after the male was in custody, but conducted an article search from the initial point of contact. Arry tracked the path where the male was running and eventually tracked to a black handgun-style pellet gun tossed in the backyard by the accused. The accused later admitted that he had the pellet gun in his waist band.
As a result, Daniel Lecuyer, 23 years, of Chatham was charged with Carry a Concealed Weapon, Trespass by Night and Mischief under $5000. He was released by way of a promise to appear with a future court date.
