The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a report of a suspicious person in Chatham.
During the early morning hours of September 20, 2013, numerous residents on the north side of Chatham were victims of thefts. Police received information that two suspects, dressed in dark clothing, were prowling around residential properties and stealing valuables from their vehicles.
Officers flooded the area and observed two suspects trying to enter a vehicle on Greenfield Lane. The suspects fled the area on foot upon seeing the officers. One suspect was apprehended after short distance away. Upon searching the man incident to arrest, he was found to have in his possession items and cash stolen from the vehicles. Officers continue to search for the second suspect.
Nicholas Seabrook, 20 years, of Lacroix Street in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, possession of break-in-tools and trespass by night. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
