The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man and woman following a break and enter in Chatham yesterday.
Around 12:30 p.m. the man and woman were observed driving a black Ford Focus suspiciously on Valley Drive. Shortly thereafter, a homeowner noticed that his basement window had been opened and his PlayStation 3 gaming system valued at $200 had been stolen.
Officers flooded the area and located the man and woman in the vehicle stopped in an alleyway off Victoria Avenue. Through investigation, the officers learned the stolen property had already been pawned off for cash.
An 18-year-old Chatham woman and 21-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested and charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. The woman was released with conditions pending a future court date.
Further investigation revealed that the man also pawned off a stolen laptop computer earlier in the week. The man faces an additional charge of possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing
