Break and Enter Leads To Guelph Power Outage

On October 2, 2013 at 6:20 a.m., employees of Hydro One located a male in their compound acting suspiciously. The male fled on foot and was subsequently observed a short time later by Hydro One employees who contacted the Police. The male was arrested without incident on Edinburgh Road South by members of the Guelph Police Service.

Investigation revealed forced entry to the compound of 225 Edinburgh Road South and the theft of Hydro One property. Damage was also detected which caused Hydro disruption to a substantial area within Guelph for approximately 20 minutes until power could be restored.

A 20-year-old Cambridge man was arrested and has been charged with break, enter and theft, mischief over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He has been held in custody and will attend bail court on October 3, 2013.
