The London Police Service is alerting the public of a possible door-to-door scam occurring within the city.
Information has been received that a woman in her forties is going door to door, attempting to sell brooms for $20 with $1 of each sale going toward breast cancer research. It is unknown if this is legitimate as police have limited information.
The London Police Service would like to remind citizens to:
– Don’t give in to high-pressure sales tactics.
– Do not agree to anything at the presentation.
– Take the time to do your due diligence, getting the name and location of the company.
– Research the information and ensure all details and verbal promises are included in a contract, if relevant.
If anyone observes activity such as this, please call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
