(WALKERTON, ON) – The South Bruce OPP is investigating a report of a suspicious person in the town of Walkerton. On October 6th, 2010 at 9:15 am, a call was made to police to report a male party approaching a student walking along Third Street in Walkerton to attend Brant Central School. The male started a conversation that made the student uncomfortable. The student continued onto school and reported the male party to a teacher. The OPP would like to talk to this man and are asking him to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
Description:
o between 30 and 50 years old
o brown hair
o sunglasses
o black or blue cotton jacket
o blue or brown pants
o tan or black baseball cap
o beard – chin only, no moustache
The South Bruce OPP is asking parents and teachers to review Stranger Danger with students:
o know your name, address & phone number
o use the buddy system, don’t walk by yourself
o if a stranger approaches, you don’t have to talk to them
o if a car is following you, try to remember the licence and tell a trusted adult
o if a stranger grabs you; bite, kick and scream for help
