On August 22, 2013, the man attended a business on James Street in Wallaceburg and placed a package of candy in his pants pocket. The man exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. An employee observed the incident and immediately called police. Through investigation, police identified the man responsible. He was located a short time later on this same date and arrested. The man was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date.
On September 11, 2013, the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday morning around 9:00 a.m. an officer while on general patrol observed the man on Vanier Drive in Chatham. The man fled the area on foot when he saw the cruiser. The man was apprehended on Grand Avenue East.
David Murphy, 24 years, of Grand Avenue East in Chatham was released pending a future court date.
