(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 11:40 a.m. a two vehicle crash occurred on Hwy 7/8 approximately 500 meters West of Road 102 between Shakespeare and New Hamburg.
Investigation revealed that a delivery truck was travelling west bound and a Sports Utility Vehicle was travelling east bound on Hwy. 7/8. The vehicles collided, sideswiping each other and coming to rest in opposite ditches. The 65 year old male driving the SUV, a Township of Perth East resident was transported by air ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in London with serious injuries. The two male occupants of the delivery truck were uninjured. The delivery truck was being operated by a 36 year old male from New Hamburg.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The Perth County OPP with the assistance of the OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the collision.
It is anticipated that Highway 7/8 between Road 101 and Road 104 will remain closed until after 6 p.m.
