(South Huron, ON) At 8:50 pm on October 18, 2010, a Corrections prisoner transport vehicle was traveling on Blackbush Line near the Town of Dashwood transporting two prisoners when the van was forced to stop and the prisoners escaped from custody. No one was injured during the escape.
At this time one of the prisoners has turned himself in to police however one remains outstanding. Investigators suspect the outstanding prisoner may have located a firearm.
The OPP Emergency Response Unit, OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit are engaged and attempting to apprehend the suspect.
Residents are being urged to remove keys from vehicles to prevent the prisoner from locating a means of escape and to lock all vehicles and homes.
The suspect is a 17 year old male. He is described as 5’9†tall, 175 lbs with short brown hair. He was possibly wearing a red sweatshirt and jeans.
