At approximately 8:11am, the Barrie Police Service received information regarding a single motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Mapleview Dr. E. and Bayview Dr. Upon arrival the officers discovered that an eastbound Mapleview Dr. vehicle had lost control and crossed into the westbound lanes near Park Place, leaving the roadway and crashing into the concrete base of a sign. The 57 year old Woodbridge resident was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Members of the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit continue to investigate this unfortunate occurrence. Anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed this accident is urged to contact the Barrie Police Service.
