(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday October 26, 2012 at approximately 10:20 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a reported single vehicle rollover crash on Hwy 23 south of Atwood.
Investigation revealed that a Honda Civic had been travelling north bound on Hwy 23 when the vehicle spun around, left the roadway, flipped over and landed on its roof in water filled ditch on the west side of the road . The vehicle became submerged trapping the driver inside. Two passing motorists stopped ran to the scene and immediately jumped in the water. They managed to open one of the vehicle’s doors and pull out the lifeless female driver. A third motorist started CPR which resulted in the driver becoming responsive. Ambulance transported the female to Listowel Memorial Hospital where she was treated and stabilized prior to being transported by Air Ambulance to London Victoria Hospital.
The injured driver, a 55 year old London resident currently remains in stable non life threatening condition in hospital.
OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) assisted with the investigation. Road conditions at the time of the collision were wet and slushy.
