The Barrie Police Traffic Unit and members of the Uniform Patrols Branch conducted a R.I. D.E. spot-check at several locations throughout the
City. As a result a total of 312 cars were stopped, twelve roadside breath tests were conducted, one male suspended for a 3 day â€ÂWarn†range violation and one driver who tried to turn and avoid the spot-check was found not to have a licence at all. This male was subsequently charged. Though one individual was suspended, there were no driver’s charged with Impaired Driving or Drive Over 80 Mgs of alcohol in their system which the Traffic Unit sees as a positive step in comparison to the last two R.I.D.E. details conducted. Remember that if you plan to drink, ensure that operating a vehicle is NOT included in your plans. Use public transit, a taxi, driver service or have a designated driver that can get you home safely.
