On Saturday December 5, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. C.V.P. had nine of their volunteer members checking cars in Guelph as part of the Lock it or Lose it crime prevention campaign.
In total they checked 903 vehicles. The results they found:
vehicles locked with no valuables visible- 708
vehicles locked with valuables visible- 167
vehicles unlocked with no valuables visible- 17
vehicles unlocked with valuables visible- 11
The types of valuables observed were purses and wallets, cellphones, GPS’s, cash and Christmas gifts.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle.
