Drunk Driver In Chatham

Shortly after 12:00 am this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a pick-up truck in the area of Raleigh street, swerving within its lane and then making a wide turn onto Richmond street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and when speaking to the driver, the officer determined that the drivers ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for further breath tests. As a result, a 51 year old Chatham man has been charged with Impaired Driving and Operating a Motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. His vehicle was seized for seven days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. He was released with a future court date.
