Publisher’s Clearing House Scam

The Guelph Police Service Fraud unit would like to alert citizens of a Publisher’s Clearing House Scam that is occurring in the Guelph area.

Citizens in Guelph have been contacted by unknown parties claiming that they are with Publisher’s Clearing House. They tell them that they have won a prize award – then asks them to send a payment or money card in order to claim the prize.

Here are some scam prevention tips from Publisher’s Clearing House:

Publisher’s Clearing House will never notify their winners with a telephone call.

Publisher’s Clearing House will not send private messages to the winners on Facebook.

You NEVER have to pay anything to claim your Publisher’s Clearing House Prize.

If you have lost money in this type of scam, please contact the Guelph Police Service at 519- 824-1212. It is also advisable to contact Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1 (888) 495-8501 to file a report whether you have lost money or not.
