(PALMERSTON, ON) – On January 2, 2015 at approximately 5:10 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Daly Street near Brunswick Street in Palmerston.
After being questioned regarding drugs in the vehicle, the male driver surrendered a non-prescribed pill bottle containing methadone to the officer and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Police conducted a search of the motor vehicle incident to arrest a located a homemade weapon constructed from wood, wire and screws that was approximately three feet in length. Police also seized a black pistol BB gun that closely resembled a semi-automatic pistol firearm that was in a holster.
Eric CUNNINGHAM age 41 of Palmerston has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Possession of Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was held for a Bail Hearing to speak to his charges.
