(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) On January 25th, 2014 at approximately 1:40p.m. members of both the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Grey County OPP were involved in a vehicle stop on Highway 21, Saugeen First Nation.
During the vehicle stop there was an altercation that left one officer and the male driver with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment and later released into police custody.
As a result of the injury to the driver, the OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. Any other inquiries should be directed to the SIU Communications at 1-416-622-2342.
