Drinking Driver Caught South Of Mitchell

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Around 1 a.m. on Sunday January 25, 2015, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 23 south of Mitchell. The driver of the motor vehicle was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

The driver registered a B.A.C. from .05 to .08 on a roadside screening device. The 58 year old male, a resident of the Municipality of West Perth was issued a three day suspension notice and his driver’s licence was seized.

These two drivers are examples of individuals who should not have been driving as a result of their alcohol consumption. Although their B.A.C. readings were below chargeable levels, one more drink may have caused them to be arrested for being over the legal limit of .08 It is important to note that you may be impaired at lower levels.

Drinking and driving is unacceptable. As a result the Perth County OPP will continue their patrols and regular RIDE programs throughout the year in an attempt to stop these drivers and maintain safer roadways. The public is encouraged to report impaired and erratic drivers. Calls can be made to the OPP 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
