In mid-December an investigation was launched into multiple thefts from lockers at local fitness clubs. A male had been entering fitness facilities and cutting locks in the change rooms. Personal property was stolen, including two vehicles. On the morning of December 17, 2014 police located the responsible male and he was arrested.
A criminal code search warrant was executed at the male’s residence and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine was recovered, as well as many pieces of identification, bank cards, credit cards, mobile phones, cut locks and break-in instruments. This investigation has been ongoing and further charges have since been laid.
David Collins, 37 years of Guelph has been charged with twenty one counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, twelve counts of possession of stolen property, eight counts of possession of identity documents, two counts of weapons dangerous, fraud under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will next appear in court on February 2, 2015.
