Attempting To Pass Transport Truck Results With Head-On Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Wednesday January 04, 2015 around 5:45 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a collision on Hwy 7 north of Line 15 east of St.Marys.

Investigation revealed that a Pontiac G5 driving south bound on Hwy 7 was operated by a 26 year old male from Stratford. The Pontiac proceeded to pass a southbound transport truck and while passing the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Pontiac collided head-on with a north bound Hummer in the north bound lane.

The Driver of the Hummer was not injured. The driver of the Pontiac sustained minor injuries and was transported to local hospital, in addition he has been charged with “careless driving”.

The Perth County OPP reminds motorist to take extra care, leave more space between you and the other driver, slow down and if you have to pass, ensure that road and traffic conditions are such that a pass can be made safely.
