Occurrence #: BA15012001

Date: Thursday, March 12, 2015 – 6:00pm

Barrie Police attended a Bayfield Street business on the 12th of March for a Toronto man being held by loss prevention officers for shoplifting.

Loss prevention observed a 32 year old male select merchandise then conceal the item in his backpack. The male then passed several cash registers and left the store without paying. The suspect was arrested and police were contacted.

Further investigation revealed that a month prior the same male from Toronto attended the same business on Bayfield Street, stole the same product from the store shelf, and concealed the item in the same manner. Loss Prevention did not make the arrest at the time but were able to provide video to officers.

The accused was subsequently charged with two counts of theft, and four counts of breaching his probation orders. The male was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where he is being held pending a bail hearing which will commence on March 13th.
