Girlfriend upset over boyfriend taking her car without consent discloses past domestic assaults and mischiefs to police.
A 25 year old Owen Sound woman woke up this morning to find that her 32 year old boyfriend had taken her vehicle to work without her consent. She was awoken by a call from him advising that he was charged by the OPP for driving while under suspension. When the woman learned that her vehicle was impounded for 7 days, she attended the Owen Sound Police Service station to report that the man wasn’t allowed to drive her car.
She then proceeded to disclose that during their relationship, the man had assaulted her on several occasions in their upper west side apartment. On one date in late 2014 he pinned her over the back of a couch by her throat and threatened to harm her. On another date in early 2015 he backed her up against a wall while she was holding her infant and punched the wall beside her while again threatening to harm her. In another incident, the man broke her cell phone and when she replaced it he later broke the new phone. In March of 2015 the woman was trying to speak with him in her car, when he became upset and broke a heater vent in the dash. The woman advised that she was not injured in the assaults.
The Owen Sound man was arrested by police and brought to the Owen Sound Police Service station where he was lodged pending the result of a weekend bail court. The man faces charges of assault x2, mischief under $5000 x3 and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
